Due to median vaccination coverage far from elimination level, Italy is still an European country with high number of measles cases per million of people. In this study we explored potential socioeconomic, medical and demographic factors which could influence the propensity of family members for measles vaccination schedule. Optimizing strategies for meningococcal C disease vaccination in Valencia (Spain)

Background: Meningococcal C (MenC) conjugate vaccines have controlled invasive diseases associated with this serogroup in countries where they are included in National Immunization Programs and also in an extensive catch-up program involving subjects up to 20 years of age. Catch-up was important, not only because it prevented disease in adolescents and young adults at risk, but also because it decreased transmission of the bacteria, since it was in this age group where the organism was circulating. Pertussis-specific cell-mediated immunity in infants after vaccination with a tricomponent acellular pertussis vaccine.

The aim of this study was to investigate pertussis-specific cell-mediated immunity in infants vaccinated with a tricomponent acellular vaccine. Infants were investigated during a primary vaccination schedule from the third month of life to the sixth month as well as before and after a booster at 15 to 24 months. This is the first report of specific cell-mediated immune responses to pertussis-related antigens in infants below the age of 12 months. Our data show that the vaccine induces T-cell responses specific for the vaccine components, detoxified pertussis toxin, filamentous hemagglutinin, and pertactin, that increase progressively over the course of the vaccination schedule. In Italy, the Human Papillomavirus (HPV) vaccination was implemented for twelve years old girls in 2007, but its coverage was lower than the recommended level. Sicily is one of the Italian administrative regions with lower vaccination coverage, with a value of 59% for those born in 1996 increasing to 62% coverage for those born in 1999. Pediatric routine vaccinations in the COVID 19 lockdown period: the survey of the Italian Pediatric Society

Abstract Background COVID-19 pandemic was responsible for disrupting routine immunization activities all over the world. Aim of the study was to investigate the reduced adherence to the national children vaccination schedule during the lockdown period in Italy. Materials and methods Through social channels, the Italian Pediatric Society conducted a survey among Italian families on children vaccination during lockdown period. Hintergrund. Daten aus Einschulungsuntersuchungen sind in Deutschland die einzig verfugbare Information zu Durchimpfungsraten bei Kindern. Diese Erhebung ist fraglich reprasentativ und erlaubt keine Beurteilung “zeitgerechter” Impfungen. Valide Daten zur Vollstandigkeit und zum Zeitpunkt der Impfung wurden deshalb 1999 in einer reprasentativen Stichprobe erhoben. Methode. Field testing of a vaccine against eel diseases caused by Vibrio vulnificus

The field results of a vaccination programme against Vibrio vulnificus serovar E (biotype 2) in a Spanish eel farm are reported. A total of 9.5 million glass eels were vaccinated from January 1998 to March 2000 by prolonged immersion followed by 2 subsequent reimmunisations after 12 to 14 and 24 to 28 d, respectively.
